Troubleshooting Common Issues With Land Id®
Having trouble? Here are some tips for solving common problems with Land id
Land id is a powerful, web-based property research and mapping tool. However, sometimes users may encounter issues that can prevent them from using Land id efficiently.
Here are tips on troubleshooting common issues with Land id, depending on what platform you are using:
Account/subscription troubleshooting
General questions/troubleshooting
- "I'm new to Land id, and I need help learning the ropes."
For quick questions, you can contact support or browse our Help Center. For a longer, more detailed training session, please request one by filling out this form. - "My map is taking a long time to save, or won't save at all."
Land id maps are optimized for mapping a specific property or select properties within a single state. Maps with a significant amount of content (hundreds of boundaries, points, lines, etc.) may suffer from reduced performance. Try to divide this content between multiple Land id maps to avoid slow performance or saving issues. - "My KML or Shapefile won't download."
Likewise, maps with a significant amount of content will result in a GIS file that is too large to download. Try dividing your content into multiple Land id maps, and downloading a GIS file from each. - "I cannot see landowners or parcel information."
For this information to be displayed on your Land id map, the parcels overlay must be turned on. You can see how to enable an overlay here.
Land id web version
- "Land id is slow in my web browser."
If Land id's performance is struggling, this is usually due to the browser itself not being optimized with Land id, or a full browser cache. Please do the following:
- Try opening Land id in Google Chrome and testing it there (if you don't already). It is our recommended browser for the best experience with Land id.
- Clear your browser cache by following the steps here.
- Additionally, Land id is an online platform that relies on your internet connection. If your internet connection is slow or unreliable, Land id may not load or work correctly. Check your internet connection by trying to access other websites or applications. If your internet connection is unstable, try resetting your modem/router or contacting your internet service provider for assistance.
- "A button or feature is missing."
If you have determined where a button or feature is located, but it is absent, it is usually caused by a VPN, browser tracker, or antivirus software conflicting with Land id. Please disable any of these programs or browser extensions and try refreshing the Land id page. You see how to manage browser extensions here. - "Land id doesn't work well on my tablet."
We recommend downloading the Land id mobile app and using that instead of the mobile browser on a phone or tablet. It can be located in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. - "My GIS file won't import into Land id."
GIS files (KML/KMZ and Shapefiles) have a size limit of 10 MB or less depending on their complexity. If your GIS file isn't working, it is likely too large, too complex, or there is data within the file that isn't compatible with a Land id map. Try breaking up the file into smaller files if possible. -
"These steps didn't work."
Ensure your browser is up to date. If nothing else works, sometimes all it takes is to restart your computer. Try that and test Land id again.
Land id mobile app
- "I am not seeing the new feature on the app."
The Land id app is not always automatically updated. Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to see if an update is available. Once updated, you will see the latest features on the Land id app. - "I downloaded an offline map, but it still isn't working in the field."
In addition to the offline map, you must enable offline mode to bypass your cell connection. The offline button is located at the top of the Map Library. - "I am getting a syncing error."
If offline mode is not used in the field and the cell connection is weak, it can cause a syncing error. Deleting and reinstalling the app is the only way to fix this error unfortunately. Please screenshot your un-synced work (if possible) as it will be lost. - "My Land id app is freezing, glitching, or otherwise not working."
If no other troubleshooting steps work, deleting and reinstalling the Land id app will often fix these errors.
Account/Subscription troubleshooting
- "Land id is saying my credentials are incorrect when signing in."
Verify that you are using the correct email address and password for your Land id account. If you are unsure what email address you used, try the email address where Land id receipts are sent.- You can also request a password change email on the sign in page. The email will be sent to your account email address. If you do not see it, try searching your spam filter.
- If you purchased your Land id subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, then click "sign in with Apple" or "sign in with Google" instead of entering your credentials manually.
- "I have a subscription, but when I sign in, it wants me to start a new free trial."
You are likely signing in with a different account than the account linked with your subscription. Do not start a new trial or subscription. Instead, sign out and try signing in with different credentials, or with Apple/Google. - "I downgraded my subscription and now my maps are locked."
Only a Land id Pro Unlimited subscription allows for unlimited maps saved to your account. Land id Premium and Pro have a three map limit in your account. If you downgrade with more than three maps saved, they will be locked until you delete all but three maps. - "I am seeing a message that I have reached my log in limit when I try to sign in to Land id."
As per our Terms of Service, only one user (up to three devices) is allowed to use a Land id subscription. This message is notifying you that the three device limit has been reached. If multiple users are using your account, or you need access to more devices, you can find what to do here. - "I think I was charged twice."
First, verify that the charges are unique, and you were not sent the same receipt twice. If you were indeed charged twice by mistake, please contact support.
- Note: Payment errors can postpone renewal charges until the following month. This can explain two renewal charges from the same month.
