Definition

 A substation is a set of equipment for reducing the high voltage of electrical power transmission to that suitable for supply to consumers.

This overlay represents electric power substations as identified in the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD).

  • Can be a useful tool for renewable energy developers to assess local markets
  • Helpful to commercial and industrial builders who are interested in developing in areas with nearby energy resources.

Tip:  Pop-up includes the name, type, service status, maximum voltage and minimum voltage for each substation.

Limitations:  Data does not include intra-distribution-level infrastructure. This overlay has been removed from the HFLID and can no longer be updated. Last update was 05/21.
